Hello and welcome! My name is Emily Gollnitz and I am a Literacy Specialist this academic year. I provide instructional support in the classroom and during our intervention blocks.
My teaching is based on the Science of Reading, which is just a fancy name for how the brain actually learns to read. It means we don't guess or wait for reading to 'click.'
We use proven, step-by-step methods to teach your child two main things:
Sounding out words (like building words with letter sounds).
Understanding what they read (the meaning and ideas).
This ensures every child gets the exact skills they need, right from the start, so they can become a strong, confident reader.
Outside of school I am an avid reader and enjoy cross stitch and embroidery. I love spending time outdoors. I am also active in a local charity organization that supports families in need.
