Welcome to Mrs. Kondrick's Page

Welcome to the Library! I am Karen Kondrick, your Elementary Librarian, and I proudly serve our wonderful students from pre-K through Grade 6.

I am passionate about connecting every student with the perfect book and sparking a lifelong love of reading. I am committed to keeping our library program dynamic and up-to-date through ongoing professional growth in library sciences and technology. This year, I'm thrilled to be hosting virtual author visits to bring the magic of storytelling right into our library!

Outside of school, I am an avid reader, a quilter, and a dedicated birder. My family and I enjoy spending our summers at our lake cottage, and I look forward to encouraging all of our students to explore new worlds through books this year!

🚀 Library Vision and Goals: Our Reading Journey 🚀

Our vision for every student, Pre-K through Grade 6, is to become a Curious Reader, a Confident Discoverer, and a Lifelong Learner.

These are the key goals students are working toward achieving in the library this year:

Read with Enthusiasm and Purpose: Students will grow their personal reading habits by finding books they genuinely love and selecting materials across new genres and subjects. We encourage all students to set and work toward personal reading goals this year!

Master the Library: Students will develop independence by successfully learning to locate, check out, and properly care for books and resources in our library.

Engage with Creators and Stories: Students will use resources like our exciting series of virtual author visits to connect with writers and illustrators, inspiring their own creativity and strengthening their appreciation for literature.

Navigate Information Confidently: Students will learn how to find, evaluate, and use information and technology ethically and effectively, making them confident researchers and responsible digital citizens.

Build a Reading Community: Students will practice sharing book recommendations and engaging in respectful discussions about literature with their classmates, fostering a shared love of reading.
