Happy Friday, families!

We have had a productive week filled with hands-on learning and community spirit. From exploring the roots of our food to sinking ships in the classroom, our students are staying busy and engaged as we head into spring.

This week, we celebrated Agricultural Literacy Day with a special guest reader who shared Seasons on the Farm by Chelsea Tornetto. This book offers a wonderful glimpse into the daily life of a rural New York farm, highlighting the new jobs, animals, and seasonal fun that each time of year brings. To ensure the learning continues, a copy of the book has been donated to our school library for all students to enjoy.

In the classroom, our 5th graders have been hard at work mastering how to read and plot on coordinate planes. This week, they put those mathematical skills to the ultimate test with some exciting games of Battleship. While quite a few ships were sunk during the competition, even more math skills were strengthened along the way as students practiced their precision and strategy.

Our after-school programs continue to be a highlight of the week, with students enjoying everything from swimming and sewing to the fast-paced world of Quiz Bowl. Our Battle of the Books teams are also working incredibly hard, with our dedicated readers currently preparing for a challenge coming up in just a couple of weeks.

As we continue our school-wide reading of Nim’s Island, please remember to refer to your reading schedule to make sure you are staying on pace with the story. All of our reading leads up to a special evening of tropical fun on Tuesday, March 31, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We can’t wait to see everyone there for a little island-themed excitement!

As we move through the third trimester of the year, I want to share a gentle reminder regarding the importance of consistent attendance and arriving on time. Each school day begins with essential morning routines and instruction that set the tone for a successful day of learning. We truly appreciate your efforts in helping your child arrive promptly so they don’t miss a moment of the action.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see everyone on Monday!
