Dear RCS Families,
We had a wonderful first week of school that was capped off with a school-wide Crew Celebration in the large gymnasium. The theme of this month’s celebration was the RCS Character Trait of Leadership with a focus on teamwork. During the celebration I discussed the three areas where students are able to earn a classroom party:
- Attendance: Each month I will recognize the classrooms with the best attendance rates. The top class will receive a banner to display as well as a trophy. They will also receive access to the healthy celebration wagon.
- School Spirit: Ripley Central schools colors are blue and white. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a blue shirt on Fridays to show their school spirit. The classrooms with the best participation rates will be recognized monthly with the top class receiving a banner to display as well as a trophy. They will also receive access to the healthy celebration wagon.
- All students are expected to read or be read to for 15 minutes nightly. Developing a reading habit is the biggest indicator of future academic success. Students that read or are read to 80% of the time Monday-Friday will receive individual recognition monthly and will also receive a surprise award from the principal.
This week is National Substitute Teacher Appreciation Week. We are always in need of energetic individuals that enjoy working with children. Please contact the school if you are interested in being a substitute teacher (716-736-7224). We have a need and training will be provided.
RCS will once again, partner with the YWCA to provide child care before and after school. Scholarships are available for families that need additional financial support. The program focuses on goal setting, homework support (reading), team-building opportunities, and physical activity. Please contact Tayler Lunn if interested (716-326-4012).
The Yearbook Mum Sale will run through September 16. All money and orders are due to classroom teachers no later than Friday, September 16. The sale is used to offset the cost of yearbooks. Students who sell 10 or more mums will receive a 2022-2023 yearbook at no charge. Please contact the school if you need an additional order form (716-736-7224).
