Welcome to 6th Grade!
Hello and welcome! I’m Mrs. Meredith, and I’m so excited to start this school year with you. Sixth grade is such an amazing year full of growth, discovery, and fun. We’ll explore new ideas, take on exciting challenges, and work together to build a strong, supportive classroom community. This year we are lucky to have Mrs. Noonan as our special education teacher and Mrs. Gates as our classroom aide. I can’t wait to get to know each of you and see all the wonderful things we’ll accomplish this year. Let’s make it our best year yet!
About Mrs. Meredith
My name is Erika Meredith, and I’m so happy to be your 6th-grade teacher! I live with my wonderful husband and our three amazing children. When I’m not at school, I love spending time in my garden and making homemade jams and salsa from the fruits and vegetables I grow. Teaching is one of my greatest joys, and I can’t wait for a fantastic year of learning and fun together!
Academic
For November and December, students are writing argumentative essays exploring whether plastic is helpful or harmful. In math, we’re learning how to find area, surface area, and volume of different shapes. In science, we’re discovering the different types of energy and how they are used in our everyday lives.
· Homework Policy: Students have math and reading homework every night except on Friday’s. There is a reading and math log in the back of their homework folders to be initialed daily. When a student forgets to bring their folders back to school the next day. Students who complete their homework in the 10 minutes provided daily do not have any homework to complete.
