RCS Students have been busy decorating their classroom doors in preparation for Thanksgiving. The school looks great! We sure have a lot to be thankful for.
Second grade students partnered up with some 1st grade friends to share some of the expert knowledge they have been reading about in their nonfiction unit for Reader's Workshop. What a wonderful opportunity for the students to become the teachers!
This morning, the entire building came together in the large gymnasium for November's Crew Celebration, centered around the theme of Teamwork. A heartfelt shout-out goes to the Fredonia State Men’s Basketball team, whose presence at RCS added an extra layer of excitement for our students.
The players shared an engaging teamwork drill to each class, fostering a sense of collaboration and unity. Following the activity, they made their way to classrooms, where they shared the joy of reading with our eager students. It was heartening to see the students take full advantage of this unique opportunity, asking insightful questions and forging connections with their basketball player.
Our partnership with the Fredonia State Men’s Basketball team has undoubtedly enriched the lives of our students, and we're eagerly looking forward to their next visit. A special appreciation goes to Coach Smiley for reaching out and playing a crucial role in facilitating this meaningful connection. The impact of this collaboration was felt by both our students and the players, making it a truly rewarding experience for all involved. A heartfelt thank you to Coach Smiley and the entire team!

5th grade grew their communication and teamwork skills as we worked together to complete a series of team building challenges at Mission Meadows. We learned that stepping out of your comfort zone may scare you, but is so rewarding in the end. You can't grow if you never stretch!

The RCS Tennis Courts will be closed for the winter season starting Sunday, October 29, 2023. Courts will reopen once the weather breaks in the spring. Thank you.
Last Thursday, we were blessed with wonderful weather, courtesy of Mother Nature. Our Fall Fest was a resounding success, and we extend our gratitude to Knight Farms for their generous donation of pumpkins. We'd also like to thank all the dedicated individuals whose hard work made this event possible! The kids had a blast:)
Sixth-grade students ventured outside of their comfort zones this past Friday. Students embarked on a tree-climbing adventure and experienced the rush of riding the mountain coaster at Holiday Valley. We look forward to reading their reflections on this unforgettable trip!
The PK3 students had a blast at today's Fall Fest, engaging in a range of delightful autumn activities. They had a hands-on experience with pumpkin guts, stomped grapes, and even rolled pumpkins. It's safe to say that everyone had an absolute blast!
The sixth-grade students have been incorporating the use of a story arc as a guiding framework in their Writer's Workshop, aiding them in crafting compelling personal narratives. Great job scholars!
Second-grade students embarked on an exciting Fall Adventure as they visited Harvest View Greenhouses. They relished the season by participating in a variety of engaging fall-themed activities, which encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones and explore the wonders of autumn.

This morning, we recognized the following students for their outstanding achievement in earning Eagle Wings. Congratulations to all, and please continue your excellent work!
Grade 1 kicked off their first science unit on sound this week by playing a sound guessing game. Students listened to a mystery sound and held up a picture card of what object they thought made the sound. Students explored each object afterwards. Great job scholars!
Grade 6 students are currently learning about the fascinating world of ecosystem dynamics, and are exploring the flow of energy and matter. Today marked the beginning of an exciting project where students took their first steps in crafting their very own miniature ecosystems.
Over the weekend, students from RCS visited SUNY Fredonia, where they participated in the WNY Girls in Sports event. This exciting occasion provided our students with a diverse array of sporting experiences, including lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, and softball.

Mrs. Gestwicki's class celebrated their writing with a gallery walk featuring each child's favorite piece. First grade scholars walked around the room, immersed in the ambiance of classical music, while reading their classmates' books. We have some serious first grade writers!
